About

OUr Mission

Bonei Olam means builders of worlds. Current statistics indicate that one out of every six couples are faced with the challenge of infertility. The pain and emotional trauma of childlessness is something no couple should have to endure. Certainly not due to a lack of financial means or other surmountable obstacles. Since its founding in 1999, Bonei Olam has set its mission to provide the means or resources necessary to allow childless couples facing infertility the opportunity to pursue medical fertility treatment.

HOW WE HELP

Fertility treatments are available in the UK under the NHS, but it does depend in which part of the country the patients lives. That could leave us with many patients not eligible for funding for their fertility treatments.

This is where Bonei Olam steps in to ensure that every couple experiencing infertility is taken care of in the best possible way and that no one is remained untreated in any circumstances.

Our History

The birth of Bonei Olam can be traced to one selfless act of kindness. One outpouring of magnanimity that has given rise to a fountainhead of hope, support and infinite life.

One of the founding Bonei Olam board members and his wife were on special consultation trip to an internationally renowned fertility expert in Europe. As part of a group from around the world, they came to explore various experimental procedures and treatment options not available through the conventional fertility field. The costs for these procedures were considerable and in order to be considered for treatment, participants were required to bring along ample cash to cover all testing and treatment fees, upfront. In addition to the expected fees for consultation and treatment, couples were told to bring additional cash for the possibility of any unexpected medicinal regimen or other drug treatment required to be considered as a candidate for treatment.

After preliminary testing, it was determined that one of the couples in attendance were ideal candidates for a specific steeply-priced procedure, which stood an extremely high chance of success. There was just one issue. Although the couple had brought along sufficient funds to cover the procedure, additional money was needed for certain expensive meds, as a perquisite for treatment. The couple did not have the money to cover the medications. The possibility of missing this opportunity for a child after they had literally come so close was heartbreaking. Sitting in the hotel lobby, this women shared her anguish with some of the women in attendance.

Sitting amongst this small group was the woman who would ultimately, along with her husband, become the founding board members of Bonei Olam. Upon hearing this story, she immediately went to consult with her spouse. “We don’t know what our chances are,” she said. “Our fate is still up in the air. This couple has a real chance. Why don’t we give them our funds? ” And so it was; the joy and satisfaction of funding a miracle was first experienced in that far-off hotel lobby in Europe. The rest, as they say, is history.

The treatment succeeded. But beyond its success in bringing just one child into the world, that one encounter has given birth to an organisation that has brought thousands of other children into the world.

The story became the impetus for this selfless couple along with several others to establish Bonei Olam.

The history and background of Bonei Olam is integral to its mission. The concept of providing others with an opportunity that one has yet to achieve for himself represents the epitome of our people’s inborn generosity.

Indeed, the heart of Bonei Olam is the group founders and volunteers who themselves lived through the agonising experience of childlessness. These selfless visionaries see their own personal struggle as a calling. The stark realisation that finances and medical research are often the primary impediments for thousands of couples like themselves, who may never experience the joy of parenthood and the eternity of their legacy, drives them beyond the limits. It continues to be the catalyst behind Bonei Olam’s success in raising tens of millions of dollars and ultimately bringing over 8,000 children into the world, whose legacies will be carried forth by countless descendants for all eternity.

This sense of personal commitment to the cause is also manifested in the sensitivity and compassion of Bonei Olam’s staff toward protecting the dignity, the privacy and the spirits of our clients.
